Pastor Nick Sterner
Pastor Nick was called as the pastor of FBC Greensburg in May of 2017, but he and his wife, Michelle, are far from strangers to the church or Kiowa County. They met as college students in 2009, and both attended FBC for several years. Nick was mentored by Pastor Marvin George who served as FBC’s pastor for a total of 12 years, and it was under his leadership and mentoring that Nick preached his first sermon in the same pulpit he preaches from every week. Nick and Michelle were married at FBC Greensburg in June of 2010, and were seen off and wished well by many of the same people they are blessed to serve once again, only in a different role. They have two children; a daughter, Genesis (3), and a son, Gabriel (18 months). The Sterner family has a heart for Kiowa County, and especially for the congregation of First Baptist Church.
Pastor Nick has served as a Campus Life director for Youth for Christ of Southwestern Kansas (now Youth Core Ministries), and has also served as pastor of Hillview Baptist Church of Union City, CA from 2014-2016. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministry and Bible from Barclay College in Haviland, KS, and a Master of Theological Studies from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO. While he does hope to one day get a Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching, for now he’s perfectly content preaching the Gospel to a congregation he loves, and is privileged to be used by God in this capacity. For fun he loves to have fun with Michelle, play with his kids, nerd out and read theology (he’s obsessed with the Reformation, and Reformed theology), run, and fish.
